HISTORY
1st Principal – Mr Rogers. The school opened in 1954 originally as a satellite school to the old Porirua School, which was later pulled down and resited at Elsdon. The Gower school hall, built in 1960, was named after the long serving second Principal, Mr Gower (1958-1969).

CONSULTATION AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
A healthy learning environment for children is created when the school, parents and other members of the community are involved and committed to working together. Parents have opportunities to be involved and are consulted via the following:
- Regular school Newsletters
- Written and Oral Reports to parents or caregivers
- School Community meetings
- Regular sporting, social and cultural events throughout the year
- School assemblies (fortnightly Wednesdays)
- Daily Karakia

We are a small multicultural school consisting of approximately 120 students and 6 classes
